Lions clubs, “a global force for good” is the largest non-governmental service organization in the world. The service of lions reaches around the planet serving over 200 countries. 48000 clubs and 1.4 million members are helping other and making communities better.
With so many clubs and members across the planet, for better administration and service lions clubs international around the word is divided into various constitutional areas, multiples and districts. District 322H is one of them and it is a part of multiple district 322.
GEOGRAPHY:
District 322H comprises of revenue district of Malda, Uttar Dinajpur, Dakshin Dinajpur, Kalimpong and part of Darjeeling district.
HISTORY:
District 322H came into existence on 1st July 2022, earlier it was a part of district 322F. District 322F was born on 1st July 2000 after bifurcation of district 322D. Revenue district of Malda, whole North Bengal, state of Sikkim and country Bhutan was part of district 322F. After almost 20 years, due to large geographical area, huge increase in number of clubs to around 130 and number of members crossing 4000 bifurcation of 322F was planned to facilitate better administration as well as render service to more people. In a special district convention held in LY 2020-21 it was unanimously decided to bifurcate district 322F into 322F and 322H.
WAY FORWARD:
Lion Tamal Dasgupta, took oath as the first district governor of district 322H from 1st July 2022 with 1300 members and 40 clubs.
Every journey begins with a single step. One act of service, one encouraging word; one gift of generosity is often all it takes to bring hope where it’s needed most. Our goal is to reach more people through uniting our services around five areas of need i.e. Diabetes, vision, hunger, environment and childhood cancer. New challenges have changed the way we live and think, but our dedication to helping those in need is as strong as before and for this purpose we will start new permanent projects for benefit of society and render selfless service to the needy guided by our motto “We Serve”.
